# M.Curate — Curation

M2 process that governs the apparatus boundary: reviews [[M.Finding]]s in [[M.FindingsLedger]] and converts them into either [[M.EmpiricalModel]] refinements (model-level) or ontology changes (entity, process, tension, framework, axiom, hypothesis, or question additions / refinements, governed by §12.1.1). Authorized by [[G.OntologySteward]]. Operates in five steps: **intake** (read [[M.FindingsLedger]]), **classification** (model-level refinement vs. ontology-change candidate), **conservativity audit** (does the proposed change add commitments beyond the current ontology, and if so which?), **promotion triage** (illustrative / companion-doctrine / promote-to-ontology), **version bump** (per §12.1.1). Also opens, transitions, and concludes [[M.Inquiry]]s as authorized by [[G.OntologySteward]], and updates the lifecycle state of `Q*`, `H*`, `T.*` based on surviving findings. Distinct from [[P.Govern]]: [[P.Govern]] operates over the assessment system; [[M.Curate]] operates over this ontology and [[M.EmpiricalModel]].
